Back up all data. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways: ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The most common applications that seems to ask for my password are Safari, Address Book, Messages, and then a couple oddballs. Safari Autofill Mac Tip #138/25-Feb-2004. Select Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access. I had same issue. I think it was related to power cut as I was having problems after that. Tried everything and then I couldn't get into iMessages on Mac either so did more research. I ended up clearing the NVRAM and it worked. No longer get keychain password request and was able to get into iMessages. Also fixed my autofill from my OnePassword manager which I didn't think was related (but it was). Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately hold down these four keys together: Option, Command, P, and R. Keep holding the keys for about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart. (If you have a Mac that plays a when you turn it on, you can release the keys after the second startup sound.) When your Mac finishes starting up, you might want to open System Preferences and adjust settings that have been reset, such as sound volume, display resolution, startup disk selection, or time zone.
